Nashua Center to host virtual 1 and 5K races

By Staff | Aug 1, 2020

NASHUA – The Nashua Center has announced it will host its first virtual 5/1K run/walk race from Aug. 14-16.

Since it is virtual, anyone anywhere can participate from a distance, on any or all of those days, while helping to support Nashua Center.

Here’s how it works:

Participants register and pay online. They create a course of their own making and design and take part any of the three race days. They can hit the trails, qthe track or go around their neighborhood. They can head off from anywhere.

Runners can come as they are, but also can come as they want to be. They can dress up from any era they’d like to showcase. Their kids also can be involved, along with friends, family and co-workers.

“They can walk. They can run. They can take the baby in a stroller, race the dog, even pile up the miles on a treadmill from inside. Every step they take will matter because all proceeds raised will benefit Nashua Center programs,” said Emily Manire, executive director of Nashua Center. “As participants run (or walk) they will help keep our important programs going and allow us to continue to provide our essential services during this difficult time.”

The entry fee for the virtual race is $30 for the 5K; $20 for adults (11 and up) in the 1K; and no charge for kids under 10 in the 1K.
