Girls Inc. to host socially distanced golf tournament

By Staff | Jul 18, 2020

Girls Inc. of New Hampshire will host its second annual Granite State Golf Challenge on Aug. 10 at the Nashua Country Club.

MANCHESTER – Knowing that many in the Granite State have been able to safely return to golf by following the state’s social distancing guidelines, Girls Inc. of New Hampshire will host its second annual Granite State Golf Challenge on Aug. 10, at the Nashua Country Club. The event, presented by Worldwide Facilities, LLC, will raise funds to support the thousands of girls who participate in activities at Girls Inc. centers and the organization’s community-based programming. Community members can register as a group of four or as an individual and learn more about available sponsorship opportunities at https://bit.ly/GirlsIncGolf.

“After several long months of only seeing our girls in virtual sessions, we were thrilled to welcome them back to our centers last month,” said Sharron McCarthy, Chief Executive Officer, Girls Inc. of New Hampshire. “Funds raised from the Granite State Golf Challenge will be tremendously helpful as we continue to purchase personal protective equipment and cleaning materials to ensure the safety of the staff and girls at our centers as we provide vital care in our communities.”

Although this year’s golf challenge will look different, guests will still enjoy the day on the Nashua Country Club’s 18-hole Wayne Stiles golf course. There will be no shotgun start; tee times will be scheduled every 12 minutes, starting at 8 am. All the day’s activities will take place on the golf course; guests will receive a boxed lunch and beverages and will be able to participate in the silent auction and contests, including putting and hole-in-one contests and a 50/50 raffle. Each player will receive a gift, which includes an Odyssey golf putter, as a thank you.

Girls Inc.’s center-based and community-based programs address critical areas, such as math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media and economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, careers and leadership, and participation in sports.
