Poetry Corner for June 6
My heart weighs heavy amongst flagrant oppression. Black skin hunted like open season, our scent carried in the wind.
The color itself represents Strength, Power, and strong will! The soul that gives this color life has had to learn to absorb negativity- silently, No more!
We stand tall with Integrity, OUR voices carrying further.
Sudden movements invoke learned fear and reason enough to murder!
Slavery has been abolished and reborn in different form!
The Civil War a ” victory” nothing more than trickery.
I will continue to kneel. My black brothers and sisters are Veterans too!
