Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua holds Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

By Staff | Aug 18, 2013

NASHUA – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua & Greater Salem held its annual You Rock volunteer appreciation dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel recently.

More than 120 guests were in attendance to recognize the efforts and achievements of BBBS volunteer mentors and supporters.

Comedian Mike Koutrobis and Joy Barrett, chief executive officer of BBBS Greater Nashua & Greater Salem, presented the honors of 2013 Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year to Ben Peterson and Pamme Boutselis. Cityside Management was recognized for its financial support with the Corporate Partner Award, and Morgan Hollis and Terry Williams, both former BBBS board presidents, received the John Sias Award for their passion and dedication to the organization.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua’s Mentors in Training participants received accolades for their commitment to the student leadership program, community service efforts and participation in Youth United, a United Way of Greater Nashua youth venture initiative.

Joel Jaffe was honored for his dedication and volunteerism as BBBS photographer with the Cheerleader Award.

Kicking off the celebration, BBBS welcomed some special guests.

Introduced by the Nashua agency 21 years ago, Kupah James was matched with Big Brother David Normandin, and both have been friends ever since.

The reunion of this wonderful match was the result of a kind thank-you letter emailed to BBBS from Kupah’s mother, Ana Alicea: “I believe in my heart that with the help from his Big Brother, my son stayed on course, finished high school, went on to college and today he is a 30-year-old successful businessman running his own company.”

You Rock affords Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua & Greater Salem the opportunity to express gratitude to all of its volunteers, supporters and partners. It’s an evening of applause, heartfelt appreciation and plenty of inspiration.
