AMHERST ANTIQUE AUTO PARADE ON THE 4TH OF JULY
The town of Amherst invites owners of antique, classic and special-interest vehicles 25 years and older to participate in this year’s 4th of July parade.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. July 4. Car owners are asked to begin lining up on New Boston Road across from Wilkins School beginning at 8:30 a.m. and not later than 9:30 a.m. Proof of insurance is requested and noted for town liability reasons. To address overheating issues, organizers ask all the older pre-war cars to line up first and be right behind the fire trucks going first. Cars will receive a high-visibility orange windshield letter so your name and car can be announced properly as you drive by the reviewing stand. Parking for all the antique cars is provided around the Amherst green after the parade; owners are encouraged to park and stay for pictures, show off their vehicles, and accept their prizes.
There will be six prize categories with blue ribbons and pictures in next month’s edition of the Amherst Citizen. Period outfits, banners and kids are always encouraged! Information and pre-registration (preferred) at coddingtong@jae.com, or by calling George Coddington at 801-4389 or Noel Ward at 566-0948.

OLD HOMES DAYS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Recreation Commission is looking forward to this year’s Old Homes Days. In years past, the Recreation Commission has had trouble filling all available seats and as a result have had difficulty planning and executing town-sponsored events, namely Olde Homes Days. They have been able to continue past traditions but are now looking for ways to make improvements and enhance the experience for all. They are looking to create a Brookline Olde Homes Days Committee. This is similar to what is done in Hollis and we can all agree that the Hollis event outperforms our event year after year. As of March 2013, the Recreation Commission will have one member left on the board and that person cannot run this event alone. The Recreation Commission will help guide the newly formed committee through the process of organizing the framework of OHD. The feeling is if we can have a group dedicated to just OHD during the year, the overall quality of the event will improve significantly. There will be much more information given to interested residents. If you want to be a part of continuing a great tradition in our town, please contact Rich Vertullo at rvlandscaping@comcast.net or 1-978-580-1143.
