CONCORD – The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) is encouraging customers to mix up mocktails during the month of January in celebration of the second annual New Hampshire Mocktail Month. NHLC has teamed up with Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky, The Mocktail Project and nearly 30 restaurants throughout the Granite State to feature specialty alcohol-free libations, known as mocktails, to their menus during the month of January and has launched an online recipe guide for at-home mixologists. Locate a participating restaurant and download the mocktail recipe guide at www.liquorandwineoutlets.com/responsibility.

“We are proud to partner with Old Forester and The Mocktail Project once again to kick off the new year with New Hampshire Mocktail Month,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica. “For six years, NHLC has collaborated with Brown-Forman and its brands to promote responsible consumption and service of alcohol. Encouraging a safe drinking environment for consumers is of the utmost importance to both our organizations. We are looking forward to the second New Hampshire Mocktail Month as a creative and interactive way to help build a more inclusive drinking culture in the Granite State.”

NHLC is inviting those who visit participating New Hampshire Mocktail Month restaurants to share their experiences by posting pictures with the hashtag #nhmocktailmonth and tagging “@themocktailproject” and “@nhliquorwine” on social media. Consumers will also have the opportunity to access a New Hampshire Mocktail Month recipe guide featuring all ingredients, garnishes and tips needed to create craft mocktails from home, by visiting www.liquorandwineoutlets.com/responsibility.

New Hampshire Mocktail Month is the latest evolution of “Live Free & Host Responsibly,” an award-winning collaboration launched in 2016 between NHLC and Brown-Forman, commended for offering a creative and unique approach to promote responsible alcohol service and consumption.

“Brown-Forman, like NHLC, is deeply committed to alcohol responsibility and New Hampshire Mocktail Month is a great way to promote a responsible drinking culture and help all customers feel welcome and included,” said Leah Kelly, Manager, Global Alcohol Responsibility at Brown-Forman. “Each day, Americans are increasingly choosing not to consume alcohol, and it’s important they have alcohol-free alternatives available to help them make mindful choices.”

Jesse Hawkins launched The Mocktail Project in 2017 as a grassroots movement to create a safer, stigma-free drinking culture. For nearly five years, Hawkins has travelled around the country promoting the mocktail movement.

“Since working with NHLC and Old Forester, The Mocktail Project has received immense support throughout New Hampshire,” said Jesse Hawkins, Founder of The Mocktail Project. “The demand for delicious and creative alcohol-free options continues to grow, and New Hampshire Mocktail Month is a great example of how a more inclusive drinking culture can be embraced.”

New Hampshire restaurants have already embraced the Mocktail movement, prior to participating in New Hampshire Mocktail Month. For example, 900 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria in Manchester created the “Blueberry Lavender Lemonade,” made with organic blueberry lavender juice, lemonade, and a lemon wedge; while Ellacoya Barn and Grill in Gilford added the “Spicy Cranberry Smash” to their menu, made with jalapeno juice, lime juice, orange juice, cranberry puree, ginger beer, and lime and lemon wedges.
