Cardiovascular Institute welcomes Dr. Louis Russo

CONCORD – Concord Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgery, a practice of Concord Hospital Cardiovascular Institute, welcomes board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Louis Russo.

Dr. Russo comes to Concord Hospital from Penn Highlands Healthcare in DuBois, Pa., where he specialized in cardiac and thoracic surgery and was chairman of the organization’s Quality Excellence Steering Committee. Previously, he was chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona, Pa. Dr. Russo also has served as a clinical assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, and as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of Vermont School of Medicine in Burlington, Vt.

Dr. Russo earned his bachelor’s degree at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa., and his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa. He completed his residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dr. Russo is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Russo sees patients at Concord Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgery, located in the Memorial Medical Office Building West on the Concord Hospital campus.
