LaBelle partners with N.H. PBS to produce children’s cooking classes

AMHERST – Amy LaBelle, winemaker and co-owner of LaBelle Winery, and New Hampshire PBS have partnered to present a series of pre-recorded interactive cooking classes geared toward kids age 6 to 16. The series, which is available online, is titled Amy LaBelle’s Cooking with Kids. The show is hosted by LaBelle and produced by New Hampshire PBS.
The idea for the series stems from LaBelle’s love of cooking with her two sons, Jackson, 13, and Lucas, 10. LaBelle has hosted a successful monthly Cooking with Kids hands-on cooking class during the summer at LaBelle Winery Amherst since 2018. The classes are popular and often sell out due to their limited class size, and are praised by parents and students alike.
Amy LaBelle’s Cooking with Kids includes recipes, ingredient lists and video tutorials conducted by LaBelle. A total of four online classes have been produced. The classes are free but registration is required to view them online. Parents can register their children for the classes at the New Hampshire PBS website.
The first class, How to Make Homemade Pizza Dough from Scratch, is scheduled to go online Feb. 19, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. The three additional class topics include making meatballs, ravioli and tortillas from scratch. No special equipment is required.
“It’s an honor to cook with kids. They are so eager to learn, and love to devour what they make,” LaBelle says. “Parents have told me that their kids have an invigorated sense of confidence and enjoyment in the kitchen after participating in one of my classes at LaBelle Winery. Often, after a child takes one class, they want to sign up right away for all of them. There’s no better way for parents to connect with their kids-and teach them a valuable life skill-than by cooking together.”
The series is sponsored by these generous local businesses:
AutoFair | Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Manson | D.F. Richard Energy | Granite State Development Corporation | New England Dairy | Northeast Delta Dental | Stonyfield Organic | Unitil | Enterprise Bank | White Mountains Community College | Monadnock Food Co-op | Macaroni Kid Seacoast
