MANCHESTER – Members First Credit Union is seeing great progress on the construction of its new headquarters at the corner of Elm and Salmon Streets with the installation of the last steel beam on the building. Construction firm Sullivan Construction, builder of the credit union’s headquarters, hosted a Beam Signing event to mark the occasion.

A beam signing is a long-standing construction tradition that recognizes the raising of the last steel beam in the construction process. Before it is installed, the client company has the opportunity to sign it. “Members of the company get a chance to be a part of history by leaving their signature on a piece of the structure that will last a lifetime,” said Tom Sullivan of Sullivan Construction. At the Members First beam signing, everyone who attended was required to wear masks, socially distance at six-feet apart and use new, individual markers to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“When Sullivan Construction proposed the beam signing, I thought it was a great idea,” said Bruce Leighton, Members First president and CEO. “In any other year, we would have kicked-off the project with a groundbreaking ceremony, so we were glad to be able to mark a significant moment in the construction of our new headquarters in this way. We look forward to welcoming our members and employees next summer.”

The 18,000 square foot, three-story building will offer full-service banking with a two-lane drive-up, plenty of onsite parking, and convenient access from the Amoskeag Bridge. In addition to a full-service branch, the new facility will house the credit union’s executive management and back-office support teams.
