By Staff | Apr 10, 2013

NASHUA – Outdoor activity retailer Eastern Mountain Sports has moved its Nashua store to a new location, more than doubling its size, across Daniel Webster Highway from its old shop.

The store already had a soft opening but is planning a grand opening from Friday-Sunday . The space at 281 Daniel Webster Highway is 22,204 square feet, according to a company press release. An EMS spokesman could not be reached for comment.

“Nashua has been an important market for (the company) since we opened our first store here in 1987,” CEO Mark Walsh said in a press release. “This location in Nashua presents an opportunity for EMS to improve our customer experience by offering more products, brands and service in a fresh environment. We appreciate our loyal customers and look forward to seeing them and serving new enthusiasts in this exciting store.”

The larger Nashua store will have a new section for kids, an expanded kayak and stand-up paddle board department as well as more road, mountain and hybrid bikes in the store’s full-service bike shop. EMS sells bikes from brands including Jamis, Bianchi, Felt, Kona and Masi.

A portion of the proceeds from the weekend-long grand opening will be donated to the Beaver Brook Association, a Hollis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental education and conservation of natural resources.

EMS houses its corporate offices in Peterborough and has 68 retail stores in 12 states.
