Corporate sustainability certificate offered through course at UNH
DURHAM – A three-day institute exploring corporate social responsibility and sustainability will be held at the main University of New Hampshire campus in November.
The Certificate in Corporate Sustainability is a collaboration of the UNH Whittemore School of Business and Economics, New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility, and UNH’s Sustainability Academy. It will be Nov. 7-9.
“Sustainable business makes sense both environmentally and economically, and it is important that business leaders understand how to apply sustainability concepts to their products and services,” said Dan Innis, dean of the Whittemore School.
The Certificate in Corporate Sustainability was launched in the fall of 2011 to fill a gap in sustainability training for mid-level and senior business professionals.
Over the course of three days, students will complete coursework, and have site visits, and case studies that explore why sustainability matters to business, how to build a case for sustainability, and how to communicate a sustainability message to internal and external stakeholders.
Students may attend the three-day Institute only or may choose to undertake a capstone project in their workplace.
Capstone projects allow students to draw from their experience at the Institute and address the practical sustainability needs of their employers.
Students who attend the Institute and complete a capstone project will receive the professional Certificate in Corporate Sustainability from UNH; those who participate in the “Institute only” program will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
The full course costs $2,300, with a 15 percent discount for members of New Hampshire Business for Social Responsibility. Applications received before Aug. 31 get a $100 discount.
