“These recognitions reflect the dedication of our clinical teams and their commitment to providing the highest quality care when our patients need us most,” said hospital President John Jurczyk. “Get With The Guidelines helps us put proven science into practice every day, whether we are treating someone experiencing a stroke or responding to a cardiac arrest. Ultimately, our goal is to help more patients recover and return home to their families and loved ones.”
St. Joseph earned Stroke Gold Plus for its commitment to providing timely, appropriate treatment to patients experiencing stroke. The hospital also received Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite recognition for meeting measures designed to reduce the time between an eligible stroke patient’s arrival and treatment as well as Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition for providing evidence-based care to stroke patients with Type 2 diabetes.

The hospital’s Resuscitation Silver award recognizes its achievement in meeting specific quality measures in the treatment of adult patients who experience cardiac arrest while hospitalized. The Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation program focuses on key elements of care including rapid response to medical emergencies, high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation and post-resuscitation care.
The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines programs help hospitals apply the latest research-based treatment recommendations to patient care. Participation is designed to support consistent care, continuous improvement, and better outcomes.
“We are proud to recognize St. Joseph Hospital for its commitment to caring for people experiencing stroke,” said Dr. Steven Messe, volunteer chairman of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group. “Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, including greater likelihood of being discharged home, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.”
