HUDSON – Erick Machado, 31, of Nashua, was killed in a crash on the Merrimack River on the evening of July 26.

According to State Police, at 5:16 p.m., Machado’s jet ski collided with a pontoon boat just north of the Sagamore Bridge. The impact caused him to be thrown into the water. Machado was then struck by the pontoon boat’s propeller, severely injuring his legs.

The passengers on the pontoon boat immediately called 911 and Machado was pulled from the water by another boat.

He was rushed to shore where first responders were waiting. Machado was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation; however, authorities do not suspect foul play.

Machado leaves behind his wife, Ana Lenares, and two children, ages 1 and 8. He was originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and moved to the U.S. 10 years ago.
