SALEM – Londonderry firefighter Jackson Sorenson, 21, of Salem, was taken into custody on June 30 in connection with an alleged motorcycle crash.

According to the Salem Police Department, at 10 p.m. on June 4, responding officers located the victim, Dawson Rose, who was unconscious but breathing. Rose was taken to the hospital via Med-Flight.

In addition to Sorenson, Malcolm Tashjian, 20, of Salem, was also reportedly at the scene. Further investigation determined that Sorenson and Tashjian waited “at least” 15 minutes before calling 911.

Sorenson has been charged with two counts of falsifying physical evidence, reckless conduct, witness tampering, two counts of hindering apprehension and prohibited sales of alcohol.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison, up to 15 years of probation and up to $19,200 in fines.

Tashjian has been charged with DUI impairment, two counts of falsifying physical evidence and reckless conduct.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $11,200 in fines.

Sorenson and Tashjian were released on personal recognizance bail and are scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on Aug. 3.
