LONDONDERRY – Tyrel Peer, 18, of Derry, was taken into custody following a high-speed pursuit in the early-morning hours of July 1.

According to State Police, Peer was observed by Trooper Alexander Guilbeault at 3:01 a.m. traveling at 106 miles per hour on Interstate 93 north in Londonderry. Guilbeault attempted to stop Peer, who was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata; however, he refused to pull over.

A short time later, Peer was forced to stop as the vehicle’s engine became disabled. In addition to Peer, three other passengers were placed under arrest. The passengers were later released and were not charged.

Peer has been charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying an officer, bail jumping and driving after suspension.

He was held at the Rockingham County Jail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Derry District Court on July 2.

Under state law, if convicted, Peer could face up to nine years in prison, up to five years of probation and up to $8,500 in fines.
