NASHUA – “On Golden Pond” is a much loved and frequently produced play written in 1979. Two years later it became a movie starring Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda filmed on New Hampshire’s Squam Lake.

Author Ernest Thompson wrote both the play and the screenplay. In his prolifically creative life he has written 35 plays, directed many, acted and written songs. Now he has just published a captivating new literary thriller, Out Clause.

Thompson will be at Balin Books on July 8 at 6 p.m. to discuss and sign the book. Oxton Paris, the ultimate misfit, disfigured and ostracized central character of Out Clause, years ago left his life behind and repurposed his angst into helping others escape their own entrapments, bad marriages, poor choices and compromising positions. Thompson created Out Clause, providing thousands of “travelers” a new life, a second chance and a smoother fit. But does it?

Following the conversation, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session, where Thompson will share stories from his remarkable career and his experiences working with more than 30 Oscar winners and nominees.
