NASHUA – A fire that broke out on the evening of May 31 resulted in the death of Stephanie Lemay, 46, of Nashua, and the displacement of 10 residents from the apartment building at 24 Morgan St.
Lemay’s body was found on the second floor. It was later determined that she was overwhelmed by smoke inhalation.
While en route, firefighters were told that residents could possibly be trapped, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
Nashua firefighters encountered intense flames on the second floor when they arrived on the scene just after 11 p.m.
Several hose lines were needed to knock down the flames and the roof was opened for ventilation. One apartment sustained serious damage.
Although the fire remains under investigation, foul play is not suspected.
