HOOKSETT – Christopher Benoit, 39, of Hooksett, was taken into custody on May 28 after he was allegedly spotted holding a seven-inch knife in the parking lot of the Places You’ll Grow daycare center.

According to the Hooksett Police Department, officers responded to the daycare at 167 Londonderry Tpke. and were told that Benoit had fled across the street to his residence. Benoit initially refused to follow officers’ orders to surrender; however, he eventually complied and was placed under arrest.

While being questioned, Benoit was reportedly unable to tell police why he was in the daycare parking lot with a knife.

The children and daycare employees were all accounted for and no injuries were reported.

Benoit has been charged with disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling, resisting arrest and being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon.

He was released on a $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Hooksett District Court on July 9.

Under state law, if convicted, Benoit could face up to eight years in prison, up to five years of probation and up to $7,050 in fines.
