LONDONDERRY — On June 4, longtime flight attendant Susan Nolan will give not one but two presentations at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire recounting laughs and memories of a long career in the skies.

Revisit the golden age of air travel with Nolan, an author who served more than four decades as a flight attendant and stewardess, first for Boston-based Northeast Airlines and then Delta Air Lines. She will speak about her career and sign copies of her memoir “Take the Blue Line to Wonderland.”

Nolan will give two presentations. The first one will be at noon and the second one will be at 7 p.m. Both will include a discussion of her memoir as well time for book signings. Admission is $10 per person and museum members are admitted for free. Nolan’s book will be available for $14.99 per copy. The Aviation Museum is located at 27 Navigator Rd.

“Northeast Airlines was a colorful, lovable mess,” Nolan said in her book. “Created as a plaything for a millionaire’s son, it wasn’t exactly designed for profit, but it was designed for dreams.”

Nolan will talk about the process of writing her autobiographical memoir and what some of her high-flying dreams were as part of the museum’s Exploring Aviation lecture series.

Nolan began her career with Northeast Airlines at a time when getting married, having a child or reaching the age of 35 was often cause for ejection from the airline industry for female flight attendants.

But Nolan weathered years of change, both in the aviation industry and in her own life, serving nearly 40 years with Delta Air Lines after the company acquired Northeast in 1972.

“Take the Blue Line to Wonderland” is set against the glamour and grit of the Golden Age of air travel and follows Nolan from a shy Connecticut childhood to the skies as a pioneering flight attendant, union leader and global traveler.

Through turbulence, reinvention, love, loss, and laughter, she learns that finding your voice isn’t a single moment–it’s a lifetime of choosing to move forward.
