Renaissance on the Riverwalk to celebrate Nashua’s revitalized Riverside Park
NASHUA — Residents and visitors alike are invited to spend Memorial Day Weekend enjoying a series of activities at the newly renovated Renaissance Park on Water Street.
The four-day event will include live music, food trucks, make and take art projects, vendors, and more. Most activities will be free; food and drink can be purchased. Free activities include a photo booth with props, bunny yoga, a petting zoo and live performances.
The Downtown Nashua Association will offer a Rubber Duck Regatta on the river on Saturday and the season opening of the Nashua Farmers Market on Sunday. The Nashua Arts Commission as well as Positive Street Art will both offer free kids’ make and take art projects. Nashua Area Artists Association will also have activities.
An exciting art drone show will occur Saturday evening over the river and a lighted kayak parade will fill the river with light. A new mural representing the history of Nashua will have its official ribbon-cutting in the park as well.
On Monday, Bicentennial Park at the Main Street bridge will be an ideal location to view our Nashua veterans organizations during the annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade steps off from Holman Stadium at 10:30 a.m. and proceeds down Main Street. Organizers encourage local families to walk to the park. The garage on High and Factory streets is the closest public garage and the Elm Street parking garage is an eight-minute, 0.3-mile walk from the park. There is also metered on-street parking throughout downtown. Main Street Nashua boasts many excellent restaurants for all tastes and budgets.
More information is on the Enjoy Nashua Facebook page and the “Renaissance on the Riverwalk” event is located there.
After years of planning, design and construction, the Riverwalk now connects key downtown parks and public spaces along the Nashua River, offering new pathways, scenic overlooks, public art and gathering areas that celebrate the city’s heritage and creative energy.
The improvements were funded through a Tax Increment Financing district bond established in 2003, which has supported ongoing reinvestment in downtown infrastructure and public spaces.
