Nashua man faces a dozen domestic assault charges after hitting child with belt

NASHUA – Dovey Sarante Nunez, 36, of Nashua, was taken into custody on May 6 for allegedly beating a child with a belt.
According to the Nashua Police Department, on May 5, officers were responding to another call when they reportedly heard the screams of a young child. After speaking with Sarante Nunez, officers learned that he had struck the child with a belt as a form of discipline and left “significant bruising.”
Sarante Nunez has been charged with 12 counts of second degree assault-domestic violence.
He was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on May 7.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 84 years in prison, up to 60 years of probation and up to $48,000 in fines.
