Londonderry man arrested in Vermont for DUI, drug possession

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Jose Luis Ortiz Cruz, 55, of Londonderry, was taken into custody on April 25 for allegedly driving under the influence and cocaine possession.
According to Vermont State Police, at 1:47 a.m., troopers stopped Cruz on Interstate-91 south for erratic driving.
During the investigation, police allegedly determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. Troopers also reportedly found cocaine on Cruz’s person and in his vehicle.
He has been charged with DUI refusal, possession of cocaine and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Cruz is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on May 12.
Under Vermont State Law, if convicted, Cruz could face up to 11 years in prison, a fine of up to $251,000 and having his driver’s license suspended for up to six months.
