St. Joe’s welcomes Dr. Syed Abbas to surgical team

NASHUA — Dr. Syed Abbas recently joined the ranks of the surgical team at St. Joseph Hospital.
He is a board-certified surgeon specializing in general surgery, robotic surgery, endoscopy and surgical oncology.
Fluent in Hindi and Urdu, Abbas brings extensive experience in advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Prior to joining St. Joseph, Abbas was an attending surgeon at multiple institutions, including Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Mass. and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, N.Y., where he held a leadership role as surgical site director. He was also an assistant surgery professor at SUNY Stony Brook.
Abbas holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University and a Doctorate from Ross University. He also completed his surgical residency at SUNY Hospitals Stony Brook and advanced fellowships in minimally invasive and oncologic surgery at the University of Florida.

Abbas has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national conferences on topics including minimally invasive surgery and colorectal cancer. His certifications include, but not limited to Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Board of Surgery and is an active member of several professional organizations.
