Rhode Island woman charged with forgery

NASHUA – Idilene Brito, 28, of Pawtucket, R.I., was taken into custody on March 20 for allegedly forging a check signature.

According to the Nashua Police Department, employees at Merrimack County Savings Bank told officers that Brito had attempted to cash a check for $2,400 using a signature that appeared to be forged.

After further investigation, Brito was charged with attempted theft and forgery.

She was released on a $300 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on April 15.

Under state law, if convicted, she could face up to 22 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $8,000 in fines.
