LONDONDERRY – Luis Concepcion, 54, of Manchester, was taken into custody on March 2 in connection with alleged thefts at Market Basket and the New Hampshire Liquor and Wine Outlet.

According to the Londonderry Police Department, officers responded to the liquor store at 137 Rockingham Rd. at 10:36 a.m. Store employees reportedly said Concepcion stole three bottles of Don Julio, which were collectively valued at $109.

Fifteen minutes later, officers were dispatched to Market Basket at 10 Michaels Way for a report of shoplifting and an assault.

Shortly after arriving at Market Basket, officers determined that Concepcion was also the suspect in that incident. Based on their investigation, officers learned that he stole $149 in merchandise.

A Loss Prevention officer asked Concepcion to return to the store; however, he refused to comply. The Loss Prevention officer was allegedly attacked by Concepcion for attempting to take a picture of his vehicle and call police.

During the confrontation, the Loss Prevention officer as well as two witnesses, including an off-duty police officer, were able to subdue Concepcion. Officers later found three bottles of Don Julio on the front seat of Concepcion’s vehicle.

Concepcion has been charged with theft by unauthorized taking with two prior convictions, robbery, theft by unauthorized taking, receiving stolen property, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

He was held on preventative detention pending his arraignment on March 3 in Derry District Court.

Under state law, if convicted, Concepcion could face up to 17 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $15,000 in fines.
