Massachusetts woman accused of operating brothel

TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – Chun Xiang Cao, 60, of Lancaster, Mass., was arraigned on Jan. 28 in Lowell District Court for allegedly operating a prostitution business under the guise of the Healthy Wellness Spa.

According to the Tyngsborough Police Department, in May 2025, officers were alerted by Somerset Police that Cao was allegedly running sex operations in Tyngsborough and Somerset.

During the following months, Massachusetts State Police and Tyngsborough Police conducted surveillance of the business at 130 Middlesex Rd. The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office also provided translation services.

During the investigation, police searched the business and seized a ledger with client information, U.S. currency and other items believed to be connected to the alleged criminal activity.

Cao has been charged with keeping a house of prostitution, maintaining a house of prostitution and sexual conduct for a fee.

She is scheduled to be back in court on March 11.

Under Massachusetts General Law, if convicted, Cao could face up to seven years in prison and up to $2,500 in fines.
