CANDIA – Joseph Lavoie, 58, of Nashua, was killed on the morning of Dec. 22 after his 2025 Subaru Outback collided with a cement bridge abutment on Rt. 101.

According to State Police, at 6:38 a.m., troopers responded to the scene at exit 3 on Rt. 101 east. While en route, police were told that the impact caused the vehicle’s engine to catch fire.

Upon arrival, troopers found that several Good Samaritans had pulled Lavoie from the wreckage. He was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester with severe injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggested that Lavoie lost control of the vehicle, went along a grassy embankment and struck the abutment at the Old Candia Road overpass. It is unclear what caused Lavoie to lose control of the car as the crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Trooper Kevin LeDoux at Kevin.P.LeDoux@dos.nh.gov.
