NASHUA – The Nash Casino presented a combined $2.9 million to 18 New Hampshire nonprofit organizations on Nov. 25.

This extraordinary amount was accumulated from the combined revenues generated by games of chance, historical horse racing machines and newly launched video lottery terminals during the months of September and October. In the first eight months of operations, The Nash generated an unprecedented $11.9 million for New Hampshire nonprofit organizations.

“During this season of giving thanks, the Nash Team is especially grateful for the chance to stand alongside organizations that lift up and care for children, families, service members and animals in our community,” said General Manager Eric Althaus. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of those nonprofit leaders reminds us how meaningful these partnerships truly are.”

Girls Inc. serves about 700 girls between Nashua and Manchester, according to CEO Sharron McCarthy. As luck would have it, the funds they received came in clutch to pay for a replacement bus that picks up girls at 19 schools in Nashua for their afterschool programming. Their old bus broke down just days before The Nash awarded its check.

“It’s already a rare and significant benefit to a nonprofit organization like ours to find unrestricted funds like this, and we’re extremely grateful for it,” McCarthy said. “But the timing is even more incredible since we’ll be able to immediately purchase a new vehicle in cash. That’s no small thing for a nonprofit.”

Friends of Aine provides peer-to-peer support services to children and families who have suffered the death of a loved one.

“This is a huge opportunity for us to solidify the strength and stability of our organization and to deepen our commitment to supporting and advocating for grieving children and families,” said Friends of Aine Co-Founder and Executive Director Christine Phillips. “Families find us because the unimaginable has happened, and they come away with tools and resources that help them navigate a path to a hopeful future. We believe in the peer-to-peer model as a powerful preventative tool to support the mental health of our children.”

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire cares for more than 2,000 animals each year without receiving any state or federal funding, according to CEO Marianne Jones.

“The proceeds from The Nash are instrumental to our mission and have a profound, life-changing impact on the animals in our care, while also enabling us to sustain and expand our community outreach programs,” Jones said. “We are deeply grateful for this generous support, which makes our work possible.”

“We are so grateful for the charitable gaming program at The Nash. It benefits Holiday Cards 4 Our Military beyond our wildest imagination,” said President Laura Landerman-Garber. “We will be able to use these funds to send cards to thousands of service members around the world to spread holiday cheer, and to support our veterans and military families during the holidays.”
