HUDSON — Andrew Collins, 34, of Hudson, was taken into custody on Nov. 10 in connection with an alleged hit and run crash and insurance fraud.

According to the Hudson Police Department, on June 1, officers responded to Ferry Street after a resident reported that his Ford F-250 was severely damaged overnight.

Police were also told that a pick-up truck was seen speeding away from the scene. After analyzing debris from the crash, investigators determined that the truck belonged to Collins. Further investigation reportedly showed that Collins had filed an insurance claim stating that his vehicle was a total loss. However, police alleged that the damage was consistent with the truck being in motion at the time of the crash thus contradicting what he told his insurance company.

Collins has been charged with insurance fraud, falsifying physical evidence and conduct after an accident.

Collins was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Dec. 11.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 23 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $10,000 in fines.
