Nashua man charged in domestic violence incident

NASHUA – Chad Silver, 42, of Nashua, was taken into custody on Oct. 20 in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident.
According to the Nashua Police Department, on Oct. 18, officers responded to a domestic assault at Pine Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The victim told police that Silver “assaulted and strangled” her to the extent that she was unable to breathe. The victim also reportedly told officers that Silver had threatened her with a knife.
During the investigation, the victim allegedly told detectives that Silver is homeless and has been living at the encampment on Pine Street Extension. She said she and Silver had left the camp to look for a lost cell phone when he attacked her.
Silver has been charged with second degree assault (strangulation)-domestic violence and domestic violence-criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.
He was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Oct. 21.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 14 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $8,000 in fines.
Silver has a history of 17 convictions going back to June 2002.
