Massachusetts man faces several sexual assault charges

NASHUA – Daniel Pereira-Viana, 26, of Brockton, Mass., was taken into custody on Oct. 6 on a slew of sexual assault charges.
According to the Nashua Police Department, on Sept. 9, officers received reports from two young girls, stating that Pereira-Viana had sexually assaulted them. The girls also told officers that they knew the suspect.
Pereira-Viana has been charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault, felonious sexual assault, five counts of sexual assault and two counts of simple assault.
He was held on preventative detention and was arraigned in Nashua District Court on Oct. 7.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 34 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release and up to $18,000 in fines.
