Red Sox can’t solve Yankees’ Schlittler, eliminated in 4-0 loss

By Wire reports - | Oct 2, 2025

Yankees rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler tossed eight shutout innings, striking out 12 and the New York offense did just enough for a 4-0 win to eliminate the Red Sox in Game 3 of the best-of-three AL Wild Card series Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.

Schlittler is the first pitcher in MLB history to have 12-plus strikeouts in a winner-take-all postseason game.

New York scored all of its runs in the fourth while the Red Sox managed just five hits. Sox rookie Connor Early took the loss. New York moves on to face Toronto in the Division Series starting Saturday in Toronto.
