NASHUA – Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua stepped into the new school year with confidence, new shoes and budgeting basics thanks to a group of volunteers from Fidelity Investments.
The annual Kicks for Kids event, held at Alec’s Shoes, provided more than 150 Club youth with a new pair of shoes – just in time for back-to-school.
Since 2015, this meaningful initiative has helped more than 1,500 children start the school year on solid footing. Each summer at Alec’s Shoes, Fidelity volunteers take the time to assist club members in selecting and fitting the perfect pair within a set budget.
“A new pair of shoes might seem like a small thing, but for our kids, it’s everything,” said Meghan Fitzgerald, senior director of advancement at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua. “It sets the tone for the school year ahead by providing confidence, dignity, and a tangible reminder that their community believes in them. We are incredibly grateful to Fidelity for consistently showing up for our youth in so many meaningful ways.”
“Whether it’s helping a child pick out new shoes or improving the club’s outdoor spaces, volunteering with the Nashua Club reminds us of the meaningful impact we can make together,” said Fidelity Senior Vice President Luis Corga, a former club kid himself. “Programs like Kicks for Kids not only connect our associates with the community – they also help build confidence in youth and teach valuable life skills like budgeting. Fidelity is proud to support the club through ongoing volunteer efforts.”
In addition to Kicks for Kids, Fidelity associates support the club throughout the year in a variety of impactful ways. Fidelity teams volunteer their time to help clean and organize the club facility, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming space for youth. They also volunteer during our annual Holiday Shopping event, where they assist members in learning how to shop for meaningful gifts for their loved ones on a set budget.
