YMCA of Greater Nashua receives $10k Sports Matter grant
NASHUA – The YMCA of Greater Nashua recently announced that it has received a $10,000 Sports Matter grant from The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation.
These funds provided 100 low-income children in Greater Nashua with the opportunity to attend YMCA Summer Camps through the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program.
Summer camp is more than just games and activities, it’s a place where children gain confidence, build friendships and experience the joy of learning in a supportive environment. Without support, the cost of camp can be an obstacle too great for many families to overcome. Thanks to the support of The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, kids who might otherwise spend summer without structured enrichment or outdoor play will now thrive in experiences that foster growth, resilience, and a lifelong love for exploration.
“Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging,” said Michael LaChance, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. “Partnerships like this one with The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation allow us to remove barriers for families and extend the benefits of summer camp to more children in our community. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to youth development and for helping us create lasting memories at camps like YMCA Camp Sargent and our many Sports Camps at the Westwood Park YMCA.”
Earlier this summer, staff from the Nashua DICK’S Sporting Goods store joined YMCA leadership at Camp Sargent to see firsthand the difference their support makes. From outdoor adventures and archery to swimming, sports, and creative play, the impact was clear: summer camp changes lives.
The YMCA of Greater Nashua extends its heartfelt thanks to The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation and the Nashua DICK’S Sporting Goods team for helping ensure that more children in our community have access to a safe, fun and enriching summer camp experience.
