NASHUA – Yoan Mercedes, 25, of Nashua, was taken into custody on July 15 in connection with a sexual assault that reporterdly took place in September 2023.

According to the Nashua Police Department, on Sept. 14, 2023, the female victim told officers that she had been sexually assaulted by Mercedes, who was an acquaintance at the time.

Detectives with the Special Investigations Division continued the investigation and charged Mercedes with aggravated felonious sexual assault.

He was held without bail pending his arraignment in Nashua District Court on July 15.

Under state law, if convicted, Mercedes could face up to 20 years in prison and supervised release for up to the remainder of his life.
