By Staff | Jul 9, 2025

NASHUA – St. Joseph Hospital was recently recognized as one of only four hospitals in the state to receive an “A” safety rating from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization which evaluates quality and safety health care standards.

“This achievement reflects the tireless efforts of our clinicians, staff and leadership to prioritize patient well being in every decision,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Vatti. “We are honored to be recognized by the Leapfrog Group and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of care.”

This prestigious recognition celebrates the hospital’s unwavering commitment to protecting patients from preventable harm, errors and infections marking a significant achievement in delivering high quality care.

The Leapfrog Group is a leading voice in hospital transparency and patient safety. Its Hospital Safety Grade is the only national rating program focused exclusively on preventing medical errors, infections and injuries, which claim more than 200,000 lives annually in the U.S. Using more than 30 evidence-based measures, Leapfrog assigns letter grades A to F to nearly 3,000 hospitals biannually, evaluating factors like infection rates, surgical errors and safety protocols. The grades are peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public, empowering patients to make informed healthcare decisions.

The hospital’s robust safety measures, including advanced infection prevention protocols, effective communication systems, and teamwork across departments, have contributed to this elite designation.

This rating places St. Joseph among the nation’s top-performing hospitals, offering patients and the community confidence in the safety and quality of care provided.
