TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – The Town of Tyngsborough officially opened Ironwood Park, a 30-acre public recreation area on Sherburne Avenue, with a ribbon-cutting celebration that coincided with the annual Spring Health Fair on June 7.

The park, made possible through the Community Preservation Fund and a land donation from the adjacent Toll Brothers Development, includes walking trails, sport courts, a renovated clubhouse and new amenities including pickleball, disc golf and shuffleboard.

“Ironwood Park reflects Tyngsborough’s commitment to community, recreation and preserving open space, said Town Manager Colin Loiselle.

“It’s a true collaboration between volunteers, committees and town boards — and a space that will serve our residents for generations.”

The park’s name, “Ironwood,” pays tribute to the site’s legacy as the former Tyngsborough Golf Course, which was family-owned by the Spindells for more than 80 years. Members of the Spindell family joined town officials at the event to honor that history.

Select Board Member Ron Keohane noted the facility is “second to none,” offering more recreational options than any other town park.

“This is truly a gem — built for everyone. And I plan to play every amenity here.”
