Carrying on the family tradition at AMR

NASHUA – After graduating from Westfield State University, Cullen Young found himself seeking direction in life and looked to his father for help.
Young, a resident of Maynard, Mass., said he initially thought about joining Cambridge, Mass. Police Department; however, working in law enforcement gave him “cold feet.”
Then a new option emerged: a career as an emergency medical technician for American Medical Response. His father, Gregory, has been with the company for 37 years and his grandfather, Michael, worked for AMR from 1992 until his passing in 2012.
“AMR has been in the family forever,” said Young, adding that his father told him about the company’s EMT training program, Earn While You Learn.
However, AMR has one of the more rigorous training programs.
“It’s a very comprehensive EMT training program,” said Gregory, who is now a regional fleet manager and oversees the operations of 15 maintenance shops.
After completing Earn While You Learn, Young continued the family legacy and joined AMR Nashua in March.
“AMR has been in my family since before I was born,” said Young. “It was a real easy decision. I planned and wanted to go to New Hampshire, I love being up here.”
A proud father, Gregory said his son fits right in at AMR.
“There’s a lot of people who speak very highly of him,” he said.
