MERRIMACK – The grand finale of local garden club plant sale fundraisers was presented by Home Health & Hospice Care (HHHC) in Merrimack on May 31 when shoppers convened at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Milford Road to buy annuals, perennials, planter boxes, crafts, nature photography and other related wares.
The proceeds from HHHC’s second annual event are designated at 100 percent to the upkeep and enrichment of a flourishing garden space at nearby Community Hospice House, a 16-suite haven of end-of-life care stewarded by HHHC for 25 years. The garden is tended by volunteers from Amherst Garden Club and elsewhere.
Earlier in the month, the Nashua Garden Club hosted its plant sale, a green extravaganza.
Terry Robinson of Nashua, the publicity chair for Nashua Garden Club, said the group, founded in 1961, partners on sale day with the Nashua Historical Society on Abbott Street. The lawn there provided a spacious venue for the plant sale on May 17.
“This year’s attendees were thrilled to find quality plants at very reasonable prices, plus personalized advice from club members that include several credentialed Master Gardeners,” said Robinson, who invites inquiries via email at nashuagardenclub@gmail.com.

“One shopper, recently relocated to Nashua, was overjoyed as she purchased an apple tree for her son who always wanted to grow one but couldn’t at their prior home located in Arizona,” she added.
Meanwhile, a comment from an Amherst Garden Club member underscores the successful garden club plant sale season, one whose funds tend to augment ongoing club programs and activities.
Marti Warren, Amherst Garden Club plant sale chair of the May 10 event, one presented at Wilkins School on Boston Post Road, noted the rain-or-shine gathering was a wet one.
“A little rain never stopped any true gardener, so our 2025 Plant Sale went on in pouring rain without a hitch — the plants were very happy,” Warren said.
“While sales were down a bit, we still made significant money to keep next year’s budget full for all our activities,” she noted.
