MERRIMACK – A male driver was seriously recently injured in a high speed crash following a police pursuit on F.E. Everett Turnpike in the early morning of May 30.

The driver’s identity has not been released.

At 1:29 a.m. State Police observed the driver of a 2018 Infiniti Q50 in Bedford traveling south on the Turnpike at speeds reported in excess of 140 miles per hour.

The driver allegedly refused to stop, prompting a pursuit which continued into Merrimack.

A short time later, the driver veered off the right side of the road and crashed. As a result, the driver became trapped and the vehicle began to catch fire.

First responders were able to extinguish the flames and get the driver out safely. He was then taken by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
