By Staff | Apr 27, 2025

NASHUA – Members of Disabled American Veterans from throughout the state of New Hampshire will hold their annual department convention in Nashua on May 3 at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel and Conference Center, 2 Somerset Pkwy.

The convention will begin at 6:30 p.m. The featured speaker will be Joy Ilem, the DAV’s national legislative director. Election of new DAV state-level officers for the coming year will also be held.

More than 60 DAV members, including many ill and injured veterans of World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War as well as the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, are expected to attend.

According to Michael Lopez, commander of the DAV Department of New Hampshire, the convention business sessions will include adoption of resolutions to be submitted to DAV’s annual national convention.

Several of these mandates are expected to concentrate on improving the rights and benefits earned by more than 4 million veterans disabled in wartime service to their country. DAV leaders are deeply concerned about fully funding the Department of Veterans Affairs and properly implementing the honoring of the PACT Act.
