City man facing seven felony drug charges

NASHUA – Robert Bates, 39, of Nashua, was taken into custody on April 14 for the alleged sale of controlled drugs.
According to the Nashua Police Department, detectives with the Narcotics Intelligence Division were notified earlier this month that Bates was selling drugs in the city. During their investigation, detectives obtained a warrant to search Bates’ residence. He was placed under arrest following the search.
Bates has been charged with acts prohibited: sale of a controlled drug (fentanyl) subsequent offense, two counts of sale of a controlled drug (fentanyl and crack cocaine) – subsequent offense and four counts of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute (fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, buprenorphine and naloxone) – subsequent offense.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 210 years in prison and up to $3.5 million in fines.
Bates refused bail and was held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending his arraignment in Nashua District Court on April 15.
