Set in 1973, this funny and tender comedy presents the cash-strapped, Catholic O’Shea family, who live in a working class Boston suburb. Linda O’Shea, the precocious 19-year-old presenter of the story, describes a family crisis of biblical proportions when a conversation with her younger sister Becky about “the birds and the bees” is overheard by the parish priest. Describing it as her own “personal Watergate,” O’Shea chronicles the four days that changed her life – and her family’s life – forever.
Full of witty dialogue, memorable characters and a kitchen set that recalls the questionable color choices of the 1970s, Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help will leave you smiling and nostalgic for the days before the Internet, cell phones and social media.
The cast for Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help includes Katie Smolinski of Chelmsford, Mass., Katie Collins of Manchester, Nicole Straussberg of Merrimack, Jenna Carr of Methuen, Mass. and Richard Hurley of Windham. The play is directed by Victoria Sandin of Nashua.
