Arlington Street Community Center to host Community Conversation on May 2

By Staff | Apr 11, 2025

NASHUA — The Arlington Street Community Center is inviting residents to attend a Community Conversation on May 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Nashua Public Library, 2 Court St.

Hosted by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority and New Hampshire Humanities, this dynamic discussion will explore what community means in Nashua, how people connect, and how shared ideas can shape the city’s future.

As Nashua grows and evolves, this event provides an opportunity for community members to come together and reflect on their community’s past, present, and future. Facilitated by Courtney Marshall, Joshua Tepley and Mohamed Defaa, the conversation will explore themes of community identity, resilience, access to shared spaces, and the role of community centers in fostering belonging. Artist Marek Bennett will illustrate the key themes from the conversation, creating a graphic recording of participants’ insights.

In addition, attendees will contribute their ideas toward a Community Response Project in Nashua, made possible with support from CDFA. This community-led initiative will be based on the perspectives that emerge from the discussion, ensuring that it leads to real action and impact. Potential projects may include shared reading programs, storytelling events, performances, welcoming initiatives for newcomers, or other collaborative efforts designed to strengthen local connections.

Space is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register in advance. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Translation into Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic will be available.

The Community Center Investment Program resources support the enhancement of current indoor and outdoor facilities, as well as the construction of new spaces that have proven to be inclusive, open to the public, and foster a culture of health and well-being in the communities they serve. The Governor and Executive Council approved this investment of federal American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Funds in December 2022. The program is being administered in coordination with the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery.
