NASHUA – In a groundbreaking step to combat the ongoing opioid crisis, the Revive Recovery Resource Center recently announced the launch of its Overdose Prevention Van, a mobile initiative designed to provide lifesaving care and connect individuals with essential health and social services in Greater Nashua.
Equipped with trained care coordinators and peer recovery support specialists, harm reduction tools and resource information, the Overdose Prevention Van is more than just a response to overdoses. It is a beacon of hope and a gateway to restoration for individuals and families affected by substance use.
“The opioid crisis has taken a devastating toll on our community, but we are committed to turning the tide,” said Jessica Carter, executive director of Revive. “This van represents compassion in action, ensuring people have access to the resources they need, when and where they need them.”
Key features of the Overdose Prevention Van include:
-Overdose Reversal Tools: Free naloxone distribution and training to prevent overdose deaths.
-Immediate Support Services: Nonjudgmental care and referrals to treatment, mental health resources, and housing assistance.
-Harm Reduction Supplies: Safer use kits, sterile syringes, various substance testing strips and other tools to reduce the risk of infections and injury.
-Outreach and Education: Raising awareness about overdose prevention and harm reduction strategies throughout the community.
The van will operate at key locations in Greater Nashua on a routine schedule to maximize its reach. By meeting people where they are, the initiative aims to reduce stigma, build trust, and offer immediate and long-term support.
“This is about saving lives, plain and simple,” said Clayton Svendberg, care coordinator at Revive. “Every life matters, and by bringing these services directly to the streets, we are taking a bold step to empower individuals and families in their journey toward health and recovery.”
