NASHUA – Figs are one of humanity’s oldest and most treasured fruit crops. Fortunately, they are fairly easy to grow at home, including here in New Hampshire.

To provide more information about this, the Nashua Garden Club invites the Greater Nashua community to an interactive workshop on figs. This session will be free of charge and will be held at 7 p.m. on April 2 at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester St.

The featured speaker will be club member Jay Guarneri. He is an avid gardener, tinkerer and cook who likes to grow his own food.

Attendees will learn about the different flavor classes of figs and about growing figs in cold climates. The do’s and don’ts of rooting fig cuttings will be covered and participants will get an opportunity to root their own fig tree using the Fig Pop method.
