Nashua man facing federal firearm trafficking charge

By Christopher Roberson - Staff Writer | Mar 25, 2025

BOSTON – Dennis Michaud, Jr., 22, of Nashua, was taken into custody on March 21 by federal law enforcement officers for allegedly transporting nine firearms from New Hampshire to Massachusetts.

According to charging documents, a confidential informant had identified Michaud as an illegal firearms dealer. From Feb. 7-11, the informant contacted Michaud on Snapchat to arrange for the purchase of a semiautomatic rifle.

On Feb. 11, Michaud allegedly travelled to Pepperell, Mass. and met with the informant to complete the transaction. For $900, he reportedly sold a Good Time Outdoors CXV Core 15 caliber semiautomatic rifle and a 30-round caliber magazine.

Another purchase was set up with Michaud on Feb. 18. For $2,100, he reportedly sold a Taurus Raging Hunter .454 Casull revolver with approximately five rounds ammunition, a Rossi Interarms M68 .38 special revolver with approximately five rounds of ammunition as well as a Walther PPS 9mm pistol with approximately six magazines.

A third purchase was set up with Michaud on Feb. 27. For $1,750, he reportedly sold a Radical Firearms RF-15 semiautomatic short-barreled rifle with a 30-round magazine and a Sig Sauer P227 Equinox .45 caliber pistol with a 10-round magazine. During that transaction, he allegedly told the informant that having a short-barreled rifle with a stock and a 30-round magazine could result in “three felonies.”

The final transaction allegedly took place on March 20. For $2,250, Michaud reportedly sold a Century Arms 39mm YSKA AK rifle, a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm pistol and a Taurus PT-22 .22 caliber pistol.

Michaud was taken into custody immediately following the transaction.

According to federal law enforcement, Michaud does not have a federal firearms license. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition as he was convicted of marijuana possession in 2023.

Therefore, Michaud has been charged with trafficking firearms without a license.

Under federal law, if convicted, Michaud faces up to 15 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Michaud was detained and scheduled to appear in court in Boston for a probable cause and detention hearing on March 25.
