HOPKINTON – Eric Dearborn, 35, of Merrimack, was taken into custody on March 20 after a high-speed pursuit with state and local police.
According to State Police, troopers were notified, at 11 p.m. on March 19, that Dearborn had refused to pull over for a traffic stop. At the time, officers from Hillsborough, Henniker and Hopkinton were already chasing Dearborn on Rt. 202 and Rt. 9.
As State Police joined the pursuit, Dearborn, who was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra, got onto Rt. 77 in Weare and traveled eastbound toward Dunbarton.
Trooper Kyle Cotnoir was able to deploy a spike strip as Dearborn approached the intersection at Rt. 13. Dearborn hit the spike strip; however, he continued to flee as only one of his tires was deflated.
From there, Dearborn reportedly entered Bow, Concord and back to Bow before getting on Interstate 89 north.
As Dearborn approached Hopkinton, Hillsborough Police deployed another spike strip which disabled his remaining tires.
Dearborn then allegedly fled on foot into the woods. A State Police K-9 Unit was deployed to locate him while an unknown passenger was detained.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Dearborn was eventually picked up by an unknown accomplice.
He was arrested by Concord Police the following morning after he allegedly attempted to flee for a second time.
Dearborn has been charged with disobeying an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to one year in prison, having his driver’s license suspended for up to 60 days and up to $3,100 in fines.
