Rivier introduces AI degree program
NASHUA – Rivier University recently announced the launch of its new Bachelor of Science program in artificial intelligence, a program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this rapidly evolving field.
Starting in the 2025 fall semester, this innovative program will provide a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes real world AI applications across industries such as robotics, healthcare, finance and manufacturing.
“This dynamic program aligns with the growing demand for AI professionals across all sectors,” said Rivier President Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM. “Graduates will be well-prepared to harness AI technologies and address some of the most pressing challenges of our time.”
Rivier’s AI program emphasizes the application of AI principles and techniques to solve real-world problems across diverse domains. Students will develop expertise in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision and data mining, preparing them to become leaders in AI-driven innovation.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer and information research scientists is projected to grow 26 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations. As AI technology advances, the demand for AI graduates will continue to grow as new technologies are developed to process large amounts of data, improve machine learning and enhance cybersecurity measures.
“The university’s prime location in the high-tech hub of Nashua, New Hampshire provides students with a significant advantage,” said Dr. John Glossner, director of Computer Science Programs. “The region offers numerous internships and diverse job opportunities, giving our students hands-on experience in the field of their choice. This access to real-world training enhances their preparation and increases their success in launching careers in technology.”
Rivier remains committed to addressing the evolving needs of today’s workforce by developing innovative programs that align with the state and regional labor market demands. Recently, the university introduced an MBA program in cybersecurity leadership, complementing the recently renovated facilities within the Division of Business and Security Studies that include state-of-the-art cybersecurity labs, collaborative workspaces, a technology hub and modern office suites.
“The ongoing expansion of our academic facilities and the launch of in-demand programs reflect Rivier’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” said Sister Paula. “Guided by our Go Boldly strategic plan, we continue to strengthen our core programs in the sciences, behavioral health, technology and health professions, empowering our students with the knowledge and skills to lead and serve in a rapidly evolving world.”
The university is currently enrolling students for the AI program with a full launch slated for the fall. Detailed program information is available at rivier.edu/ai.
