United Way seeking donations for Community Baby Shower

By Staff | Mar 8, 2025

NASHUA – The United Way of Greater Nashua will be hosting its annual Community Baby Shower, for new and expecting low-income parents, on April 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the United Way office, 20 Broad St..

The Community Baby Shower provides essential support to families facing financial hardship by connecting them with more than 20 local agencies that specialize in services for parents and children. This year, participating organizations include Childcare Aware, WIC, St. Joseph Hospital Birthplace, Smart Start Early Childhood Coalition and Parent Network, the Fatherhood Group and the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services. Through these connections, families gain access to vital resources, education and support networks. Additionally, attendees are invited to select free baby essentials from the Baby Boutique, ensuring they have the necessary items to give their newborns a strong start in life.

In Greater Nashua, approximately 30 percent of families with children under age five struggle to meet basic needs due to financial constraints. Many parents are experiencing housing instability, food insecurity or limited access to healthcare and childcare. By providing baby essentials and connecting parents to local agencies, the United Way aims to reduce financial stress and improve early childhood outcomes.

Community members are encouraged to support this initiative by donating new and gently used baby items to benefit families in need. Businesses and organizations are also invited to host collection drives at their locations to gather essential baby supplies and maximize the impact of this effort.

The following is a list of requested donations:

-Strollers, highchairs, booster seats, carriers/backpacks, pack & plays and cribs (crib mattresses will not be accepted).

-Diapers (all sizes), wipes, rash cream and diaper bags.

-New bibs, bottles, breast pumps, new burp cloths and baby utensils.

-Baby bathtubs, infant wash, lotion, shampoo, new towels and thermometers.

-New or gently used baby clothes, stuffed animals, lightweight blankets, new pacifiers and new teething rings.

-Only new car seats can be accepted due to safety regulations.

-Parenting books, educational toys and board books.

Donations may be sent or dropped off at the United Way office between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays or by appointment. The deadline for donations is April 18.

New items may also be purchased online at https://tinyurl.com/2025BBSHWR and shipped directly to the United Way.
